Weather statistics for Bjørnholt observation site, Oslo (Oslo)

  1. Warning sign

Ongoing: Landslide risk. Caution level: yellow (Østlandet, Telemark og deler av Trøndelag)

Relatively high temperatures and windy conditions, causes significant snowmelting. Risk of slush flows is especially high in areas with more than 40-50 cm snow. The snow may in some places be fully water-saturated. Areas with fresh snow are particularly exposed, since new snow may be saturated with water quickly. Slush flows are triggered even in gentle slopes, where water accumulates. Slush flows follow terrain depressions and may develop into debris flows. Read the full forecast on

      Danger is over

Some landslides are expected. A few large events may occur. Exposed railways and roads may be closed. Debris avalanches/shallow slides: Soil slides and rapid movement of saturated soil in steep terrain. Debris floods: A "flood" of water, soil and rocks in steep creeks. Surface runoff in steep terrain can cause streams to change regular flow patterns. Slush slides: A flow of waterlogged snow. These landslides can start in relatively flat terrain and seek towards streams and steep slopes.Keep away from steep slopes, as well as streams and rivers with high discharge. Cleaning of drainage paths and culverts are recommended. Keep water paths and culverts free from snow, ice, sediments, waste, twigs and leaves.

  2. Warning sign

Ongoing: Flood risk. Caution level: yellow (Deler av Østlandet.)

Large snow melting due to high temperatures is expected. Continuous snow melting will increase water discharge in small and medium sized rivers. Hydropower production will in some cases act as flood control, and therefore the issued warning will not necessarily apply to all regulated waterways. Read the full forecast on

      Danger is over

Local flooding and/or erosional damage in streams and small rivers. Rapid increase of discharge in streams and small rivers. May cause closed roads and bridges.Cleaning of drainage paths and culverts is recommended. Keep waterways clear of snow and ice, sediments, garbage, twigs and leaves. Keep away from rivers/streams with high flow.

Bjørnholt observation station (18500)

The station is located in Oslo municipality, 360 m.a.s.l. It is the closest official weather station, 0.0 km away from Bjørnholt observation site. The station was established in January 1876. The station measures precipitation, temperature and snow depths. There are no normals for temperature. There may be missing data.

Last 30 days: Highest temperature was 16.8 °C (15 April), and the lowest was -20.3 °C (28 March). The total precipitation was 41.5 mm. Highest daily precipitation was 9.0 mm (6 April), measured at 7am (8am daylight savings) for the past 24 hours.

Last 13 full months: Highest temperature was 25.2 °C (27. May. 2017) and the lowest -25.9 °C (26. Feb. 2018). Highest daily precipitation was 50.2 mm (25. Oct. 2017). Maximum snow depth was 154 cm (17. Feb. 2018).

Graph explanation. Hide explanation

The black line shows mean value (both precipitation and temperature). Some stations does not have mean values, and hence no black line.

The red/blue line shows average temperature during the day (24h) (equalized for 30 days). The line is red by pluss degrees, and blue by minus degrees.

The red/blue areas shows the temperature variations throughout the day (24h) with max- and min. temperature as endpoints. The area is red by pluss degrees, and blue by minus degrees.

The lightblue bars shows total precipitation this month. The black lines crossing is the normal (mean) value for precipitation.

The dark grey bars behind the precipitation bars shows snowdepth measured day by day.

Some stations only measures precipitation, while others only measures temperature. If an area or bar is missing the station does not measure this data.

NB! Precipitation is measured at 07 hours Norwegian time. The value (in mm) shows last 24 hours until 07 hours (08 hours summertime). Download other weather statistics from
