Weather forecast forHerjangsfjellet, Narvik (Nordland)

  1. Applies to Troms og Finnmark og deler av Nordland

Relatively high temperatures causes significant snowmelting. Groundwater and soil moisture are high. Steep slopes, as well as streams and river with high discharge, are particularly exposed. Risk of slushflows is especially high in areas with more than 50 cm snow. The snow may in some places be fully water-saturated. Slushflows are triggered even in relatively gentle slopes, where water accumulates. Slushflows follow terrain depressions and may develop into debris flows.

  2. Applies to Trøndelag og Nord-Norge

Large snow melting due to rising temperatures is expected. Catchments with no snow are not flood prone. Continuous snow melting will increase water discharge in rivers. From sunday expected to reach yellow level. The discharge is expected to further increase throughout next week (week no. 23). Hydropower production will in some cases act as flood control, and therefore the issued warning will not necessarily apply to all regulated waterways.
